In a landmark verdict delivered on July 2, 2025, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of multiple federal charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, but was found guilty of lesser charges related to the illegal transport of individuals for prostitution.

The trial, which lasted nearly eight weeks in a New York federal court, attracted international attention due to the high-profile nature of the defendant and the serious allegations involved. Prosecutors had argued that Combs oversaw a criminal enterprise that engaged in exploitation and abuse across several states. However, the jury found insufficient evidence to support the broader racketeering claims.

Despite being cleared of the major charges, Combs was found guilty under the Mann Act for knowingly transporting two women across state lines in 2019 for illicit purposes. He now faces up to five years in prison on the lesser charge, with sentencing scheduled later this month.

Combs’ legal team hailed the verdict as a “partial victory,” while prosecutors maintained that justice had been served in holding him accountable for some of his actions. Public reaction remains divided, with advocacy groups calling for continued accountability in the entertainment industry.
