Ahead of the 2027 elections, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice presidential candidate and Peter Obi’s running mate, has called the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress ADC a grand deception, claiming that many of the same people who destroyed Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari’s rule are now seeking asylum within the party.
Baba-Ahmed stated in a late Friday appearance on Channels TV, which was watched in Abuja, that Nigeria’s basic issues stem from poor leadership selection procedures that have continuously resulted in dishonest and self-serving politicians.
Corruption, insecurity, and the breakdown of national institutions have all been fostered by electoral fraud.
“Electoral fraud is the root cause of insecurity. The type of elections we hold exacerbate corruption. “The fraudulent electoral system we run is guaranteed to destroy our judiciary and our youth,” he said.
The Buhari years were also criticized by the former senator. He added the late former president himself was a member of the corrupt General Sani Abacha government, reminding them that some of the people who worked in the Buhari administration are now in the ADC posing as Nigeria’s future messiahs. He claims that funds linked to the Abacha administration are still being recovered in Nigeria.
