Durban In KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday morning, a collision involving six cars and two lorries claimed the lives of four persons from the same vehicle.
According to Paul Herbst, a spokesman with Medi Response, four persons were killed in a single vehicle.
“A multi-vehicle collision involving six vehicles and two trucks has the Medi Response search and rescue division on the scene at this time,” Herbst stated.
All four occupants of a light motor vehicle were killed after it was severely damaged after being swept beneath a truck.
“The deceased is still being extricated, and other patients are receiving treatment on the spot.
Herbst stated that traffic was still impacted.
“We would like to offer our sympathies to the individuals impacted,” Herbst stated.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala, a truck driver lost control and struck other cars about 10 a.m. At the site, four persons were pronounced deceased. The scene is still occupied by police. An investigation into a case of culpable homicide has been initiated. Earlier, Herbst reported that their advanced life support paramedics and search and rescue division were responding to a terrible accident close to the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.
Four persons who had died from their injuries in one of the vehicles were being rescued by search and rescue, he said. There had been moderate to serious injuries to two or three people.
