The reason why manager Ruben Amorim does not want to start midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in his starting lineup has been clarified by former Manchester United defender Phil Jones.
This season, Amorim has not yet played for Mainoo in the Premier League.
During Man United’s Premier League matches against Arsenal and Fulham, the England international did not play as a substitute. “There will be an injury if they [Mainoo and Fernandes] play together,” Jones told Metro UK.
“I believe the manager dislikes them playing together because, as I indicated before, neither of them is the most mobile.
“Kobbie is strong and sharp, but the manager is looking at him and saying we might need someone else after a 90-minute game.”
