The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is warning drivers about a potential temporary closure of the Chisco–Victoria Island corridor.

This closure is necessary to safely recover an upturned gas tanker that was involved in an accident earlier today (Monday). The entire main carriageway may be shut down at any moment to allow LASTMA operatives and other emergency responders to conduct a safe, swift, and professional recovery operation, ensuring public safety and preventing further incidents.

This alert was issued by Adebayo Taofiq, the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department.

“Motorists are therefore strongly advised to exercise patience and cooperate with LASTMA officials and other emergency responders on the ground, as concerted efforts are being made to complete the evacuation operation within the shortest possible time and restore normal traffic flow,” the statement read.

LASTMA added that the safety of motorists remains a priority of the Lagos State Government, noting that further updates would be provided once the evacuation is completed.
