Kyiv was plunged into terror overnight as Russia launched a massive air attack across nearly every district of the city, triggering explosions, fires, and widespread panic. The assault, which stretched from November 13 into the early hours of November 14, is being described as one of the most intense Ukraine war attacks on the capital in months.

According to Ukrainian officials, the strike involved hundreds of Russian drones and multiple missiles, targeting both residential areas and critical civilian infrastructure. At least four people were killed, and more than 24 others were injured, including a pregnant woman and a young child. The scale of destruction has renewed global attention on the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Emergency services reported severe damage to more than 30 residential buildings, along with schools, hospitals, and public facilities. Fires broke out across high-rise districts, forcing rescuers to evacuate over 40 civilians from burning and partially collapsed structures. Witnesses described the night sky as “filled with drones,” while residents sheltered underground as blasts echoed through the city.

Ukrainian air defenses were heavily engaged, intercepting over 200 Russian drones, one of the highest numbers recorded since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Still, officials warned that the attack could cause disruptions to electricity, water supply, and heating, signaling a renewed push by Moscow to weaken Ukraine’s infrastructure ahead of winter.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko condemned the assault as a “massive enemy attack,” emphasizing that emergency operations are ongoing and that the city is bracing for further strikes in the coming days. Military analysts say this latest Kyiv missile attack suggests Russia is shifting toward a winter campaign aimed at breaking Ukrainian morale by concentrating on civilian and energy sites.

The overnight assault comes at a critical moment in the war as Ukrainian forces continue counterattacks in the east while Russian troops push to secure territorial gains. With winter approaching, experts warn that the conflict may enter a harsher phase, one marked by intensified drone strikes and strategic targeting of power grids.

For millions of Ukrainians, the night’s destruction raises the same chilling question: How much worse will this war become as winter closes in?
