The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, today issued a charge to the new batch of corps members, urging them to imbibe and uphold the scheme’s core values throughout their service year and beyond.
The DG made the call while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps Members currently undergoing the mandatory Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Rivers State.
Brigadier General Nafiu stressed that the success of their service year and their future roles as leaders depend on their adherence to the scheme’s ethical framework.
DG’s Directive: “I urge you all to be patriotic. Let the core values of this noble scheme—integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment—be your guiding principles in all your actions. Embrace the spirit of teamwork and see yourselves as one indivisible family committed to the Nigerian project.”
He commended the over 2,500 Corps Members in the Rivers State camp for responding to the call to serve their fatherland and encouraged them to make lasting, positive contributions to their host communities and national development efforts.
The address also emphasized the need for discipline, adherence to the NYSC bye-laws, and respecting the cultural diversity of their host communities as they proceed to their primary places of assignment. The DG’s message reinforces the NYSC’s mandate to foster national unity and instill a culture of selfless service in Nigeria’s young graduates.
