The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (FPTB) has announced the immediate suspension of all academic activities on its campus, following a firm directive from the Bauchi State Government aimed at mitigating threats posed by the worsening insecurity in the region.
The suspension, confirmed via an internal memo circulated to the polytechnic community today, Monday, November 24, 2025, is part of a statewide measure to close educational institutions across all levels due to the perceived threat of mass attacks.
The memo, signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Safiyo Yila, on behalf of the institution’s Registrar, explicitly linked the closure to the broader security concerns that have recently affected neighbouring states.
Internal Memo Snippet: “Sequel to the public announcement by the Bauchi State Government, which directed the closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions within the state due to security concerns, I am directed to inform you that all academic activities have been suspended with immediate effect.”
The directive is a significant step taken by the state government to secure soft targets like schools and tertiary campuses, which have been increasingly targeted by bandits and non-state actors in recent weeks.
The management of FPTB urged all heads of departments to ensure full compliance with the directive and mandated that students and staff vacate the premises quickly to safeguard their well-being. Academic activities are expected to resume only when the security situation is thoroughly assessed and deemed safe for the return of the academic community.
