The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has escalated its war on drug abuse by dismantling a syndicate that utilized social media for the illicit sale of drug-laced confectionaries. The Agency today confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old TikTok influencer, Praise Nwogu, and her partner in connection with the production and online marketing of cannabis-infused cookies and brownies.

The arrests, which took place in Benin City, Edo State, are part of a major, intelligence-led nationwide offensive targeting drug syndicates.

According to a statement released by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the two ladies—Praise Nwogu and 25-year-old Ebong Emem Oghosa—were apprehended on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

Operatives recovered numerous pieces of the adulterated baked goods, along with raw drug substances.

NDLEA Seizures: The seizures included 12 plates of drug-laced brownies from Nwogu and 76 grams of highly potent Skunk and other dangerous synthetic strains of cannabis from Oghosa.

The NDLEA has repeatedly warned the Nigerian public, particularly youth, that these products—often marketed online as harmless “edibles” or “medicinal cannabis”—are, in reality, highly concentrated and dangerous psychoactive substances that pose severe health risks.

The Agency commended its operatives for their vigilance and successful operation, vowing to intensify surveillance on social media platforms and food delivery channels to disrupt the burgeoning trend of illicit drug trafficking through deceptively packaged items.
