The Federal Government has declared that the cost of obtaining a Nigerian passport will increase.
According to the administration, the change will take effect on September 1, 2024.
A.S. Akinlabi, the Nigeria Immigration Service spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Thursday. According to Akinlabi, the increase is intended to guarantee the integrity and quality of the Nigerian Standard Passport, which will go into effect on September 1, 2025.
The review establishes new pricing criteria for a 32-page passport with a 5-year validity of N100,000 and a 64-page passport with a 10-year validity of N200,000. The revision only impacts passport application fees paid in Nigeria. “In the meantime, the application fees for Nigerian passports paid for by Nigerians living abroad stay the same at $150 for a 32-page passport with a five-year validity and $230 for a 64-page passport with a ten-year validity,” he stated.
