Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has issued a strong challenge to the state’s health workers, urging them to prioritize compassion and the highest level of professional standards in their service delivery to citizens.
The Governor’s directive, delivered by Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye on Thursday during the inauguration of the newly renovated and equipped General Hospital in Ifaki Ekiti, emphasized that the huge investment in healthcare infrastructure must be complemented by excellent human conduct.
Governor Oyebanji stated that the government remains deeply committed to raising the standard of healthcare across all towns and villages in Ekiti State. He pointed out that the strategic rehabilitation and equipping of hospitals, including the provision of modern theatre halls, patient monitors, and specialized equipment, are aimed at making quality healthcare accessible and effective, especially for people in rural areas.
Governor Oyebanji’s Charge: “Our doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, I urge you to make the best use of this facility and the equipment provided, deliver care with compassion, uphold the highest professional standards and let this new environment inspire excellence.”
The Governor also used the occasion to warn against the dangers of self-medication and urged Ekiti residents to take ownership of the new health facilities, protecting them from damage and supporting hospital staff to ensure the long-term vision of a healthy society is achieved.
The message underscores the administration’s focus on social accountability, ensuring that the state’s significant expenditure on medical infrastructure translates directly into better treatment experiences and improved public health outcomes for the citizenry.
