The Tinubu Media Force, a political advocacy group aligned with the current administration, has issued a strong statement claiming that the newly formed opposition coalition will be rejected by Nigerians. The coalition, involving key opposition figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, aims to create a unified front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press release, the media force described the coalition as a “recycling center for failed politicians,” arguing that it lacks the vision and innovation necessary to lead Nigeria. The statement also suggested that Nigerians are more politically conscious than in previous election cycles and will not be swayed by “convenient political marriages.”
The coalition, on the other hand, insists it represents a genuine third force meant to break the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Political analysts note that while the coalition could pose a significant challenge if well-coordinated, internal differences among its members may hinder progress.
The growing polarization between the ruling party and opposition blocs signals an intense political season ahead of the 2027 elections.
