President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to two newly appointed ministers, officially restoring cabinet representation for Plateau and Enugu States. The ceremony was immediately followed by the administration’s first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting since July 2025.
The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, bringing the total number of cabinet members to 48.
The two new ministers were confirmed by the Senate after nomination to fill critical vacancies:
Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro: Nominated to replace the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who stepped down after emerging as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN): Fills the gap created by the resignation of the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who vacated the position following controversies over his academic credentials.
Following the induction, President Tinubu presided over the FEC meeting, which was used to set the tone for the final quarter of the year. The meeting featured an update on the state of the economy by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun.
President Tinubu tasked the newly sworn-in ministers to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in the discharge of their duties, stressing the administration’s expectation of efficiency, service delivery, and a sustained focus on turning macroeconomic gains into tangible improvements in the daily lives of Nigerians.
